Tunnel Vision

Getting distracted is easier than it has ever been in the history of humankind (ok… I have no proof of that this statement is true, but I think we’ve accepted “alternative facts” into our truths.) One of the hardest parts of making these paintings is limiting distractions. It can be a strain to feel the progress during any given hour of painting, but I know from history that locking in on tunnel vision will gradually drag me into some confidence that the work is working… Especially when I’m past the seventy percent done mark, and the refining gets more and more subtle, that’s when I need the tunnel darkest.
