The new year studio

Posted by Dane Carder on January 12, 2019

I kinda floated through some of my studio practice last year, trying some new ideas and venturing outside of my main Work. It produced a lot of abstract paintings that I am proud to have created, but by the end of the year, there was an obvious change needed. So, I took a hiatus during December, and intentionally set January as my return to the main Work. Having a plan is both helpful and dangerous… there is a fine line between knowing what you’re doing in the studio, and allowing creativity to daily lead the way. Along with the studio practice being a bit disheveled last year, the business model of my studio was in also disarray. I have turned the page on all of that, and my stubbornness will hopefully carry me through the shift back to what I know I am supposed to be doing. (My desk will remain disheveled/in disarray.)
