The Calm After the Storm

We left for West Virginia yesterday morning at 7:15. We arrived at Jim’s Steak & Spaghetti House around 1:30 for lunch… Fish sandwiches, slaw, spaghetti, fries, pie. Dinner was much more of the same, but different folks with different foods. We woke up early to spend some time with my mom while she wasn’t working, and before we knew it, it was time to eat again… This go around, there were cheeseburgers, grilled cheese, and vegetable beef soup added to the spaghetti and slaws. We all were pregnant with food babies, and filled with joy and savored moments from spending so much time at Jim’s. It was a beautiful day for a drive, and by 1:15, we were back on the road for the five hour drive. We arrived just in time to unpack and the sit and relax by the living room windows, where a picturesque sunset was on display. It was a perfect ending to a busy thirty-six hours, and it reminded me of this haiku painting…
