One wave at a time…
One month into this year long project, and I am settling into a comfort zone… after the bit of discomfort. Week three was stricken with overanalyzing a painting, and week four saw a gentle return to simplified color and form. A ninety degree clockwise turn of the canvas after dropping in a charcoal form on a lighter grey background was the turning point (pun intended) of this piece. Lately, I have been dabbling in artistic existentialism… painting in a period of philosophical unrest; I’ll spare you the details, for now. The visual of the wave came to mind as I was looking at the painted form in the middle of this week’s square canvas, and that’s when the blue-green was added. I will ride this wave until it crashes, and then I will catch the next one. Four down, forty-eight to go.
