Chaos Mind, Quiet Mind
There’s a metaphorical revolving door in my mind, and I split my time between the spaces on either side. The chaos mind stirs the energy, stays hungry, and works to keep me entertained… It is constantly fascinated by anything, internal and external. It chases every squirrel. The quiet mind returns me to the ground, it finds the breath and stabilizes the creative process. Recently, I have found myself spending more time in the chaos, and it occurred to me that it’s taking its toll. It’s easy to slip away and get caught up in all the enticing worm holes… often just distraction after distraction, for me. Luckily, I started a big painting this week, as working on it reels in all the extraneous flailing energies and focuses them into a big intentional karate chop. We are our own greatest obstacle… specifically, the mind part.
