At the Funeral

I attended a funeral today, and the reflection on the deceased’s life was beautiful. Aside from being distracted by the repeated use of “the precious blood of Christ,” many quotable quotes stuck out, though I remember few… maybe, only one.

“Sometimes your fruit grows on other people’s trees.”

I found that a beautiful sentiment, and I hope I don’t forget it. I was also asked before the service, “How is your relationship with the Lord?” Does this happen all around the country, or is it mostly restricted to the Bible belt? I’m not too sure that the person that served up that assumptive question was expecting what came out of my mouth…

Anyways, it was a full day, replete with depth and meaning and joy and energy. I am grateful to be Alive.
